Eco Friendly Products – Five Eco Friendly Kitchen Products To Make Your Home More Sustainable
I’m delighted that at Inka we have a great range of eco friendly kitchen products and it is growing thanks to the arrival of our new stockist Wild & Stone. Many of my friends have been asking recently for eco friendly kitchen product ideas that they can swap out their plastic ones for so I wanted to get this blog to you and share some ideas.
1. Coconut Fibre Dish Brush
This eco dish brush is made from sustainably sourced coconut fibre, FSC certified beechwood, and stainless steel, creating a 100% natural and biodegradable washing-up brush. Meaning you will no longer unwittingly be releasing microplastics down the drain every time you do the dishes! The bristles are tough enough to shift tough grease and build up, yet soft enough to be used on non-stick pans and glassware. The sturdy angled head makes it perfect to get right into the corners of pans or mugs.
2. Beeswax Wraps
Beeswax Wraps in original Robyn Northover Design prints are a natural alternative to plastic cling film! The Beeswax Wrap allows your food to breath. It will keep your cheese, fruit, vegetables, bread, baked goods, herbs, fermented foods such as kombucha, kefir, rising doughs and anything else you want to keep nice and fresh!
Give wrap a gentle crunch. Simply use the warmth of your hands to shape the wrap around your food. As it is made only with beeswax, the softness of your wrap adjusts with the temperature (isn’t nature clever!) Your warmth allows it to soften, become a little stickier, so it sticks to itself.
3. Reusable Bamboo Drinking Straws
Eco-friendly bamboo drinking straws are durable, odourless and tasteless which makes them the perfect plastic alternative. Zero Waste and plastic free and a stylish alternative to buying plastic straws, when you have finished the Bamboo Straws are fully biodegradable.
They are made using natural food-grade bamboo that is completely tasteless, harvested from sustainable, fast-growing bamboo plantations which makes it unique in its colour and its diameter.
4. Compostable Dish Cloths
The Swedish dishcloth is an incredible and eco-friendly alternative to the traditional synthetic sponge or microfibre cleaning cloth. These cloths can be used all around the house, on bathroom surfaces and kitchen countertops to dishes and everyday spills. Traditional cloths and sponges are made from plastics and cannot be recycled or composted. Millions of microplastics from cloths have also found their ways into oceans and into the stomachs of our wildlife. These cloths however are hygienic, reusable, and fully biodegradable, created from 70% FSC certified cellulose (natural wood fibre) and 30% waste cotton.
5. Reusable Biodegradable Sponge
Pack of 2 Eco Friendly Robyn Northover Design Biodegradable Kitchen Sponges. Make the Change! No more micro plastics down the sink! Zero waste kitchen Sponges. These sponges are made from 100% cotton – printed on one side and double layered cotton netting on the other for scrubbing. These sponges are filled with a biodegradable sponge that’s made from plant cellulose. They also have a hand cotton cord to hang them up to dry!
Have you made the swap to eco friendly kitchen products yet?
If not, now is the time to start and as I said at the start all of these products are available to buy on Inka.
This is a great one we recommend but don’t sell on Inka…. Yet. Food Huggers that keep those small bits of food fresh.
